The Story Behind Cleveland’s Airfield

The story of the Cleveland Regional Jetport begins with a vision: to create a modern airport that would replace the smaller Hardwick Field and provide the region with a high‑quality aviation facility. Developed in partnership with the City of Cleveland the Jetport opened on January 25, 2013. Its design reflects not only technical requirements like runway length and lighting but also the aesthetic charm of Tennessee’s mountains. The airport’s construction included a 6,200‑foot by 100‑foot concrete runway, full‑length taxiway, and WAAS‑enabled GPS instrument approaches—features that support safe operations in all weather conditions.
